K & I spent two nights at A & B's in Casper. The family was camping on the Big Horns and they were generous enough to give us their door code. You know - it just isn't the same when the family is absent - just an empty house!
Anyway, we arrived late Friday afternoon after following M's Weber School Disrict/Weber State history tour bus from Fort Bridger to the old Wyoming Penitentiary in Rawlins, to Martin's Cove, to Independence Rock and then finally to Casper. We brought our luggage in and K proceeded to put it downstairs in the "guest" room. He came up a bit later and informed me that there was a skunk in the window well of our bedroom! Oh dear! K said the window was rattling and the blind moving and he thought someone was trying to get in the window! He opened the blind and yelled, "Who is it?" and much to his surprise there was a skunk with his mouth open chewing on the glass!
The window well is under the back deck and hard to get to so we made a deal with him, "If you don't disturb us we won't disturb you." It worked - and we spent two nights with him rattling around outside the window. As you know they are nocturnal so he slept during the day and moved around at night. He must have been in there a while as no one uses that room unless they're company. He had a hole dug to sleep in and he looked pretty thin.
We left a lovely thank note for our absent hosts and told them that their other potentially, stinky house guest was still occupying the room. Arv called us Sunday night when we had arrived in Lovell and informed us that we should have taken him with us when we left!
As K was talking to him he heard him yell, "Don't poke him with that broomstick!" Then to K, "
I gotta go!" Apparently the kids had the window open and were trying to coax him to do I don't know what? Spray, maybe?
