A Father's Day to Remember. . .

We had quite a day today! First of all K was asked to speak about his own father in Sacrament meeting. A hard thing for him - to talk about things close to his heart - but he did a great job. A & T, and L came; and C., T and kids. Poppie and Melissa (her granddaughter) and Debe with sweet Tessa and Cameron also. After church we barbequed hamburgers and hotdogs and had lots of yummy food. & D and 3 boys came for dinner also.
Some of us were relaxing after the meal, the girls hiked in the field across from our house, and some of the gang were being rowdy outside. Suddenly Tess came into the house screaming that a tree had fallen and Cameron's leg was caught under it! What tree could have fallen? Here is the scoop: We have a dead tree in the yard that is quite tall. All the branches had been sawed off leaving footholds that tempted TJ. He climbed high up this dead tree - maybe 15 feet and his Dad and his uncle were throwing pinecones at him. The younger kids were gathering the thrown pinecones when they hit the ground. Suddenly someone gasped and everyone watched, stunned, as the tree started to fall. Everyone scattered and TJ clung to the falling tree until just before it hit the ground and then he jumped free! We are so blessed that no one was seriously hurt! Five year old Cameron barely escaped serious injury - he had a slight scrape on one shoulder and elbow. Mostly he was pretty shook up as was everyone else. His Mom and A. cleaned his arm and applied bandaids, we applied an ice pack to his elbow, gave his some Ibuprophen to calm him down and finally put on a video for him to watch. Before long he was back outside running around. The photo doesn't do it justice - vertically it is TALL! After the initial shock we were all marvelling at TJ's spectacular jump and wondering how many lives he has left!! Amazing! Happy Fathers' Day!
